食物回收计划

USA’s Food Recovery Network (FRN) Program is a part of the national movement to decrease the amount of food wasted and divert that food to those in need. 我们的FRN章节在这里 at the 十大彩票网投平台 is the first chapter in the state of Alabama. 与 permission from our dining provider, passionate students within 美国可持续发展 Council pickup food from various dining areas on campus and deliver it to Mobile’s Salvation Army every Friday afternoon. Currently, we collect from 4 different dining areas on campus: Einstein Bagel Brothers in the Allied Health Building, POD from the Student Center and Humanities, and Java City in the Fresh Food Company every Friday 从12:55-2:55pm.  Our students typically collect 40lbs of food a week and have collected over 500lbs since our chapter’s creation in Spring 2015. 我们的计划不仅仅是转移 edible food waste from landfills and our university’s solid waste, but also donates healthy food such as sandwiches, fruit, and salads to one of the most prominent homeless 莫比尔的避难所. USA’s 食物回收计划 is dedicated to diverting food waste from the university’s solid waste system and landfill. 学生, faculty, and community members are able to bring their food waste to a composting drop off located at our community garden. A continual program for the collection of vegetable and fruit waste from USA 餐厅 Hall is currently being developed. The food waste is composted and is used as nutrient rich soil for USA’s community garden. .
